The San Mateo Downtown Transit Center Parking Structure provides parking for both Bay Area commuters and downtown shoppers. With 2 levels and 252 spaces, the subterranean level provides parking only, while the on-grade level consists of parking and two buildings which house the Caltrain station, restaurants, retail space, and a community police station. Also included are a bus stop, restaurant drop-off area, and a courtyard. IPD engineered a pedestrian tunnel under the railroad tracks, connecting the basement level of the parking structure to the western platform to serve as a shortcut for the commuters to safely access parking rather than having to cross the tracks.
