SustainabilityParking structures provide practical solutions to congested cities. They are critical for livable, sustainable communities. As cities, towns and suburbs seek more sustainable forms of development, parking structures that are architecturally integrated and connected with other building types can support this effort.  Ideally featuring a mix of uses that take into account future movement patterns, sustainable parking solutions integrate environmental approaches to all aspects of design, including the scale and placement of buildings, transportation linkages, energy and water efficiency, and the selection of construction materials and construction methods. These will play an increasingly important role in parking structure design. IPD understands the emerging trends of New Urbanism and SmartGrowth, and has experience incorporating green building strategies into parking structure design. We are the architect of record for one of the nation's first LEED certified parking structures, the Santa Monica Civic Center Parking Structure.
