The Chattanooga Airport (Lovell Field) Parking Structure incorporates a state-of-the-art parking facility onto the busy airport site. Part of a larger airport terminal expansion, the 1,300-stall parking garage is the first of multiple improvement projects planned in direct response to unprecedented growth over the past several years. The structure is located directly adjacent to the terminal with a covered walkway leading from the baggage claim area to the elevator lobby. In addition, a landscaped exterior plaza provides visitors access from the elevator lobby to the main terminal entrance. A glass-enclosed feature staircase and elevator are located at the corner of the building closest to the terminal, creating a striking landmark which assists with orienting users.

The four-level structure was constructed using a hybrid precast concrete structural system. This system is comprised of precast concrete columns, beams and spandrels, along with cast-in-place concrete decks. A moment frame lateral system was utilized to eliminate solid shear-walls within and on the exterior of the building, allowing more natural light into the interior. The ground level of the structure is dedicated to rental car agencies serving the airport while the upper three levels provide parking for the public. All levels of the structure are accessed via an exterior express ramping system. An electronic parking stall count system notifies users of stall availability on the various levels. To improve security, open stairs, glass-backed elevators and adequate lighting are all features integrated into the design.
