IPD’s Athena parking structure project at the University of California, San Diego has earned a silver certificate from Parksmart. Parksmart, administered by the GBCI, is part of the LEED rating system and is especially designed for parking structures. Parksmart promotes sustainability features, evolving technologies and operating programs for more efficient parking structures. Athena Parking Structure contains several “green” elements, including electric-vehicle charging stations, led lighting, bicycle storage and drought-tolerant vegetation.  The garage is built around two 1.2 million gallon Thermal Energy Storage tanks which are part of the chilled water system.
